OPU NORTH AMERICA ONLINE SUMMIT 2026

Theme: “Insecurity and the Degradation of Socio-economic Life in Yorubaland: Seeking Sustainable Solutions”
OPU North America successfully hosted its Online Summit 2026 on June 13, 2026, under the theme “Insecurity and the Degradation of Socio-economic Life in Yorubaland: Seeking Sustainable Solutions.” The virtual event brought together Yoruba leaders, professionals, and community members from across North America and beyond for meaningful discussions on the challenges facing Yorubaland and pathways toward sustainable development.
The summit featured insightful remarks from Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the 15th Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland and OPU Global Convener, a keynote presentation by Prof. Akin Adegbola Alao, and welcome remarks from Chief Mrs. Toyin Alowonle, OPU North America Coordinator. Participants also enjoyed engaging cultural activities, including Ewi chanting, children’s poetry presentations, and an interactive Yoruba quiz.
