OPU Worldwide Hails Collaborative Security Efforts in the Rescue of Oyo Abduction Victims

The Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) Worldwide warmly welcomes the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and held in captivity for 56 days. This successful operation is a significant victory for justice, humanity, and collective security. It brings immense relief to the affected families, the people of Oyo State, and Nigerians both at home and across the diaspora. OPU Worldwide joins millions in celebrating the safe return of the victims and commends everyone whose dedication and sacrifice made this outcome possible.

OPU Worldwide sincerely commends the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for its continued commitment to the protection of lives and property. We also applaud the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his steadfast leadership, resilience, and unwavering commitment throughout the rescue efforts. We extend our profound appreciation to the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps), local security networks, OPC , vigilante groups, hunters, intelligence personnel, and every individual and agency whose professionalism, courage, commitment, and seamless collaboration contributed to the successful rescue operation. This remarkable achievement demonstrates that effective cooperation among the Federal Government, state governments, security agencies, and community-based security networks remains one of the strongest tools in combating insecurity. It reinforces the importance of intelligence sharing, strategic coordination, and sustained partnership in protecting lives and preserving peace.

While we celebrate the safe return of the victims, we also recognize the emotional and psychological trauma they and their families have endured. We encourage the relevant authorities to ensure they receive comprehensive medical care, psychosocial support, and rehabilitation to facilitate their full recovery and reintegration into their communities. OPU Worldwide further calls on governments at all levels to continue strengthening intelligence gathering, community policing, school security, and proactive security measures to safeguard educational institutions and communities across Nigeria. Preventing future incidents must remain a national priority through sustained collaboration and investment in security.
